Who We Are
Forty-plus years of advocacy, community, and service for the retirees of Ventura County.
Our Mission
The Retired Employees Association of Ventura County (REAVC), formerly known as the Ventura County Retired Employees' Association (VCREA), was founded in 1984 as an advocacy and social organization for County of Ventura retirees.
REAVC is the authorized representative for all County of Ventura retirees before the Board of Supervisors, Board of Retirement, and other forums — including the courts. Our organization is governed by a Board of Directors whose members serve two-year terms.
The mission of REAVC is to protect the benefits of retirees and, where possible, to gain enhancements to those benefits. REAVC also seeks legislation beneficial to retirees by working with the California Retired County Employees Association (CRCEA), the umbrella group for the retiree associations of the twenty counties whose retirement systems operate under the provisions of the County Employees Retirement Act of 1937.
What We Do
- Sponsor membership luncheons throughout the year with guest speakers, business updates, door prizes, and opportunities to reconnect with friends and meet new ones.
- Hold special meetings when urgent and important issues arise.
- Publish a bi-monthly newsletter keeping members informed of retiree news, events, legislation, benefits, and social activities.
- Maintain this website to provide information about REAVC activities and retiree resources.
- Administer the John MacIntyre Scholarship annually for children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of REAVC members.
- Advocate before VCERA and the courts to protect earned pension benefits from unlawful reductions.
Our Governance
REAVC is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. The Board consists of five officers (President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer) and Directors. Officers serve one-year terms, while Directors serve two years. The Board meets at least six times per year and publishes all meeting minutes for full transparency.
